Tallest Shiv Temple
Jatoli Shiv Mandir
Standing 111 ft tall, Jatoli Shiv Mandir is widely regarded as one of the tallest Shiva temples in Asia. Construction began in 1950 under Swami Krishnananda Paramhansa and took close to four decades to complete, layer by layer of hand-carved South-Indian Dravidian sandstone.
What makes it special:
- •Intricate stone work — every pillar, gopuram and tier tells a story from the Shaiva tradition.
- •A natural water spring on the grounds (Jal Kund) the priests say has medicinal properties.
- •Quiet, terraced courtyards with panoramic views of the Solan ridges.
Best time to visit: arrive for the early-morning bell-ringing aarti when the light catches the carvings, or sunset for the cool mountain breeze. Modest dress is appreciated; shoes are left at the steps.

Best Trek
Karol Tibba
Karol Tibba is the highest peak around Solan, rising to roughly 2,250 m, and one of the most rewarding short treks in this part of Himachal. The trail starts near Chambaghat and climbs through dense pine, oak and deodar forest for about 6 km — roughly 2 to 3 hours one way, at a moderate pace.
What to expect:
- •Panoramic views across Choor Chandni peak, the Sutlej valley, and on clear days the far Himalayan snowline.
- •A network of natural caves near the summit, said in local lore to have sheltered the Pandavas during their exile.
- •Wildflowers in spring, golden grass in autumn, occasional snow in deep winter.
Practical tips: wear sturdy shoes, carry 1–2 L of water and a light snack. Best windows are March to June and September to November. The team at Naman can help arrange a local guide or early-morning drop to the trailhead.

Beautiful Architecture
Mohan Shakti Heritage Park
Mohan Shakti National Heritage Park is a sprawling 16-acre cultural-spiritual park tucked into the Tara Devi hills, about 45 minutes from the resort. It is one of the most ambitious modern temple complexes in North India — entirely hand-carved sandstone, copper-tiled domes, and sculpture-lined avenues.
Highlights for visitors:
- •A grand central temple complex with intricately carved gopurams and inner sanctums.
- •Sculpture pathways depicting scenes from the Ramayana, Mahabharata and Vedic mythology.
- •Manicured gardens, lotus ponds and shaded pavilions perfect for a relaxed afternoon.
- •Evening sound-and-light shows on most weekends — confirm timings before you go.
Photographers love the soft morning light right after the 10 am opening, and the golden-hour shadows just before sunset. Allow at least 2 hours; comfortable walking shoes recommended.
